Involvement
CAN Forum involvement group was set up to look at ways to provide information about services for older people and to look at ways of involving more older people in the planning and delivery of services.
In a survey conducted by CAN, older people stated that they had problems with getting information about services. The Forum asked Dundee Older People Strategic Planning Group to set up an inter agency working group to look at this issue. With funding from Awards for all and Help the Aged, an information pack and website for the 50+ now provides good quality information about services using plain English.
We have set up two pilot involvement projects in the Craigiebank and Ardler areas of Dundee. The projects aim to:
- make contact with socially isolated older people
- introduce the information pack for the 50+
- signpost services to older people
- make referrals to agencies if appropriate
- build a network of older people to assist in the development of services
